How to Play Double Yukon Solitaire

Goal of Double Yukon Solitaire

The goal of Double Yukon Solitaire is to build all eight foundations up from Ace to King by suit. The game is won when all cards have been moved to the foundations. If no more moves are possible, the game is lost.

The Setup

Double Yukon Solitaire is a one-player card game that begins with two decks of 52 cards (104 cards total). The tableau is formed by dealing out 10 columns of cards. The first card is placed face-up in the first column, and the remaining nine cards are placed face-down in each of the remaining columns. This pattern is continued, each time moving one column to the right to start laying face-up cards. By the time the fifth column has a face-up card, you begin laying face-up cards starting from the second column, and so forth. This is repeated until all 104 cards are laid out in the tableau.

Double Yukon Solitaire Gameplay

In Double Yukon Solitaire, cards are moved between columns in the tableau in descending order and by alternating color. For instance, a black 10 could be placed on a red Jack. Groups of cards can be moved, even if they are not in sequence. The key requirement is that the card being moved must be of the same color and one rank lower than the card it is being placed on.

The foundations are built up from Ace to King by suit. Unlike in other solitaire games, there is no stock or waste pile. All play is on the tableau and the foundations.

Double Yukon Solitaire Strategy

Double Yukon Solitaire involves strategic thinking. Here are some tips to increase your chances of winning:

Expose Face-Down Cards: Prioritize moves that will expose face-down cards. This gives you more play options.

Empty Columns Are Valuable: An empty column is a valuable asset. They can be filled with any card or sequence of cards. Always think twice before covering an empty column.

Keep the Foundations Balanced: Try to build up all suits evenly in the foundations. Unbalanced building can block future play.

Plan Ahead: Always try to plan several moves ahead. Remember that you are allowed to move groups of cards even if they are out of sequence.

With a blend of strategic thinking and a dash of luck, you'll conquer Double Yukon Solitaire before you know it!
